Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: October 18, 2026

VMTR-01 — Multitrack Recorder (Android package com.vireal.vmtr01) is developed by Vireal. This policy describes information VMTR-01 accesses on your device and information processed by our service providers when you use the app. It applies to the Android app, including its production release.

What the app does with your audio

VMTR-01 records audio received from compatible USB audio interfaces, lets you monitor and play recordings, and lets you export or share files. Audio samples and recording files are processed on your Android device. The app does not intentionally upload audio recordings to Vireal, Amplitude, or Sentry. If you choose to share a recording using Android's share sheet, the destination app or service you select receives the content under its own privacy practices.

Recordings can be stored in shared media storage (including the Music/VMTR-01/ location) and may remain accessible to other apps with appropriate access. VMTR-01 also processes local recording information such as file names, durations, track counts, and file sizes to display and manage your recording library. We do not operate a cloud recording library.

Permissions and device access

  • Microphone/audio recording: Android's RECORD_AUDIO permission supports the recording function. The app captures audio for the recording and monitoring features you use; it does not use your recordings for advertising.
  • USB device access: VMTR-01 discovers compatible attached USB audio devices and requests USB access so it can record or monitor their audio.
  • Audio/media library: READ_MEDIA_AUDIO (or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android versions) may be requested to find or reopen recordings in shared storage, including after local app data has been cleared.
  • Notifications: POST_NOTIFICATIONS may be requested to show recording-related notifications. Recording and playback may also use Android foreground services.

You can manage app permissions in Android Settings. Denying a permission may prevent the corresponding feature from working.

Usage analytics (Amplitude)

Production versions of VMTR-01 use Amplitude to understand feature usage, device compatibility, and recording reliability. The app sends app-open and automatic session, application lifecycle, and screen-view events. It also sends events for USB device connection, recording start, completion, failure, deletion, and sharing. Event properties can include USB device name/model, channel count, sample rate, recording duration, recording file size, failure category, elapsed time, and an error-message string. The error-message field could contain additional diagnostic text depending on the failure.

Amplitude may also process automatically collected technical information, including app and OS versions, device manufacturer/model, platform and language, event times, session data, and a pseudonymous SDK-generated device/installation identifier. We do not require a user account, and the app does not intentionally set an account identity for analytics. The SDK is configured not to collect Android advertising ID, App Set ID, carrier, IP address as an analytics property, or city, region, country, and precise coordinates. However, an IP address is necessarily processed by network services when data is transmitted and provider infrastructure may use it for routing, security, or other service operations. These SDK settings do not remove data that a provider may already hold.

Analytics runs automatically in the production build; VMTR-01 currently does not provide an in-app analytics opt-out switch. QA builds have app analytics disabled.

Crash and error reporting (Sentry)

We use Sentry to investigate crashes and handled errors. Reports can include exception types, sanitized error messages, stack traces, operation categories, limited numeric diagnostics, timestamps, app release/environment, Android version, and device manufacturer/model. Sentry may also process network metadata needed to receive and protect reports, including the connecting IP address.

VMTR-01 disables Sentry's default personal-information submission, screenshots, view hierarchy attachments, and user-interaction breadcrumbs/tracing. It removes user and request objects, device names and IDs, and most unapproved diagnostic extras before sending events; known file paths, content URIs, and credential-like values in exception messages are redacted. These measures reduce exposure but cannot guarantee that arbitrary third-party exception messages contain no personal information.

Why information is processed and who receives it

We use technical analytics to understand which features are used and which USB configurations work, and diagnostic reports to identify failures and improve app stability. Amplitude processes analytics data and Sentry processes diagnostic data on our behalf. They are separate service providers, and their infrastructure may process information in other countries. We do not intentionally sell recordings or personal data, and we do not use analytics or diagnostic information for targeted advertising.

Security

Analytics and diagnostic data are transmitted to the relevant providers using their SDKs and HTTPS/TLS network connections. Access to provider dashboards is restricted to authorized project administrators. VMTR-01 applies client-side minimization and redaction to Sentry reports. Files stored in shared Android media storage are protected according to Android's storage access rules and your device's security settings, not by end-to-end encryption supplied by VMTR-01.

Retention and deletion

Local recordings remain on your device until you delete them, subject to your device's own storage, backup, and file-management behavior. You can delete recordings using the app where supported or Android file-management tools. Removing the app or clearing its data does not necessarily delete recordings previously written to shared storage. App preferences and temporary local data may be removed when app data is cleared or the app is uninstalled; Android backup or device-transfer features may retain eligible app data according to your device and account settings.

Amplitude and Sentry retain telemetry under their configured project retention settings and applicable service policies; it is not deleted merely because you uninstall VMTR-01. To request information about, or deletion of, telemetry associated with your installation, contact us using the method below. We may ask for information needed to locate matching records; because analytics identifiers are pseudonymous and we do not have user accounts, we may not always be able to match an individual request to existing telemetry. We will review and handle verifiable requests as required by applicable law.

Children

VMTR-01 is a technical audio-recording tool and is not designed or marketed for children. We do not knowingly request children's personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy when the app or its data practices change. We will update the effective date on this page; any additional notice required by law will be provided.
